The Norris adjuster was developed by Thomas Norris and Sons of London, England. A British patent was subsequently issued on 24 July, 1913. The Norris style adjuster is quite unique in that it provides adjustment of cut and lateral adjustment within one compact mechanism unlike the Bailey style adjuster in the United States. Several different designs were patented by Norris, but the single screw type was the model most often (if not always) used in the Norris planes. The traveler moved when the screw engages with the screw head on the blades cap iron. Over the last 90 years there have been many adjusters made by various craftsmen and organizations.
We feel that Stephen's adjuster is better configured, better geometry   and leverage both in depth and lateral control, and far more rigid than   the originals or copies. Other manufacturers' adjusters are flexible, and   compound the adjuster screw, giving poor depth control. If you are   making an infill plane with a blade adjustment mechanism, this adjuster   will certainly be the most effective adjuster on the market and worthy   of your craftsmanship
